Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I introduce Kristen Schwendinger, JD, MPA, who has joined our team as the Director of Research Integrity and Ethics. Kristen brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this role, and we are fortunate to have her as part of the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR).

Kristen comes to us from George Washington University, where she served as the Deputy Research Integrity Officer. Prior to that, she advised universities and other research institutions on grants and research compliance and taught at the at American University Washington College of Law. Her commitment to upholding the highest standards of research integrity is evident and I am confident that she will continue to elevate our practices at UVA.

As many of you know, Dave Hudson, Senior Associate Vice President for Research, recently retired after an impressive 37-year tenure at UVA. Kristen has stepped into the role previously held by Dave, overseeing research integrity matters and investigations. We want to thank Dave for his years of service to the UVA Research community and for his thoughtful guidance that has helped make the transition seamless.

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Kristen. We look forward to working alongside her as we continue to uphold the highest standards of excellence in research.

Best,

Lori McMahon

Vice President for Research
